Analysis.

The narrative of the piece shows and tells us the story line of the film but it uses an open narrative. It shows the audience that people are going to die, be murdered and get hurt.
From the opening the films comes across to be a thriller and maybe even a horror genre, this is because of all the red and black that is used as well as the music played. The colours cause the atmosphere to be scary and the music and sound cause tension for the audience.
We see themes of murder, death and a lot of pain again this is because of the sound and colours that are used.
the opening doesn't really have a proper setting but from what we do see we can tell that a lot of it is in a small dark room this is due to the lack of space and the darkness of the scene. We see piles of books, pictures and newspapers all scattered around the room which builds up tension as the audience want to know what is happening.
None of the characters are introduced or seen during the opening we just see the characters hands and movements. This helps the narrative to stay open as its still showing the audience what is going to happen but by not showing any of the characters makes the audience want to watch past the opening.
All of the sound that is used within the opening is all used to build up the tension for the audience all of the sound are within the piece of music but could be heard as sound effects to create more of an atmosphere. The music is overall high pitched, and fast paced but we also hear a lot or creaking of floorboards and low rumbles as if we are hearing thunder. As well as squeaking of floorboards and shrieking of people. There is also a low beat that we hear every few seconds during g one part of the opening this could come across to the audience ad being a heartbeat again building up the tension and scares the audience.
Finally the titles all look as though they have been scratched onto a surface to enforce the horror of the opening as well as looking as though they have been scribbled onto a piece of paper. The first titles that we see are the distributor, institutions and the director, we then see the names of the box office actors and then the actual film title at 23 seconds into the opening. After that the other titles of various people to do with the film including other actors are then shown.
